Altum Wealth Advisors, the Chico Women’s Club, and Technical Investigative Services will be conducting a seminar on “Identity Theft & How to Protect Yourself.”

This seminar is free but reservations are required and seating is limited!

Every 2 seconds, an American becomes a victim of identity theft. Identity theft leads the Federal Trade Commission’s list of top consumer complaints. According to the FTC, California had the 3rd highest per capita rate of reported identity theft complaints in the country in 2013. Over 75% of identity theft occurs with credit cards and American consumers report losing over $1.6 billion to fraud overall in 2013.

The seminar will be presented by identity theft expert, Jos Van Hout. Jos has lectured law enforcement officers and presented to community organizations for over 15 years. He was a detective for the Butte County Sheriff’s Dept. and the lead investigator for the Butte County DA’s office. Mr. Van Hout was a Deputized Special Agent with the U.S. Marshals Office and the FBI.

The cost to attend this seminar is free but reservations are required. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
